What AI Can’t Give You

A kidney, for starters. AI can’t donate blood or help you move your couch into a new apartment. Can’t lift your carry-on into the overhead bin or save you a seat in church. AI can’t hold your hand in the car, kiss you against the kitchen counter, put sunscreen on your back. It can’t empathize. Wonder. Feel. Forgive. AI can't dry a tear falling down your cheek or hold your hair while you puke off the side of a boat. AI can’t sway with you at a concert, bake you a birthday cake, or pop champagne after you get the job. It can't hold eye contact or inside jokes, or ever be filled with awe. AI can process data at lightning speeds and pretend it has a heart, but it can never be your friend, your family, your lover — even though the billionaires will try to convince you otherwise. And who can blame them? The lonelier you become, the richer they get.
